How can you help?
Outreach (spreading the word), Writing (blogs and press and letters), Multimedia Production (video and photos and audio), Programming/Web Development
Why do you want to stop the LBAM eradication madness?
Because the moth is harmless, while the spray ain't. The "solution" is worse than the "problem". Why use a huge sledge hammer to crack a small nut?

I started this social network on Ning in hopes that we can all share our thoughts, photos, events, news, and videos on the subject and connect with each other to do something about it.

The network is of the people, for the people, by the people. "People" includes citizens of the San Francisco Bay Area, California, United States, and the planet. Basically anybody that breathes and prefers to breathe non-toxic air, and drink non-toxic water, and touch non-toxic plants, and eat non-toxic food. But you are welcome here even if you do like toxic things, as we would like to learn from your perspective and engage in some constructive dialog.

What's On My Food? There's and App for That.

A great new app is out on the iPhone, compliments of the Pesticide Action Network (PAN). It's called "What's On My Food?" It puts their database at your fingertips so you can look up just about any food item to see what kind of residues might be on it or in it before you buy it, including carcinogens, hormone disruptors, neurotoxins, and developmental/reproductive toxicants. It compares organic vs. conventional for each with lists of "ingr… Continue

Hungry Pest Terror Campaign

Has anybody heard much about the Hungry Pests Coalition? I've seen this commercial on TV, and you can find more of them on YouTube, and more details on their Website:

http://www.hungrypests.com/about.html

I appreciate their efforts to reduce imports and exports of invasive pests, but think there are better ways that don't require pesticides, such as supporting local farming, and reducing massive shipments of food across the globe. Most food t… Continue

ACTIONS You Can Take to Stop the Moth Pesticide Program

Here are some great suggestions in an email I received from the Mothers of Marin Against the Spray (MOMAS). They are focused on Marin, but doing great work to educate and help eradicate this moth eradication program.

1. Call or Write Tom Vilsack, U.S. Sec. of Agriculture
Secretary Vilsack has the power to reclassify the moth from an actionable
pest to a non-actionable pest. The… Continue

Hi Kevin! You wrote:

Jenifer, you were right! The positive visualization worked for the first step of stopping the spray of urban areas. Hope to keep visualizing beyond that now...

Yes, Kevin, as I see it, this is more about "cultivating our own garden" (from Voltaire's Candide) than about
trying to fix the situation "out there." Again--being the change we want to see.

It's also about the power of non-resistance
If you are in conflict with anything through resistance, hatred or fear of it, you are still aligning with that vibration and we will only empower it, paradoxical though this may seem. Now this does not mean we can't take action, make our voice and preferences known. The important thing is our inner state. Our focus needs to be on what we want, not on what we don't want, As Einstein said: “You cannot solve a problem from the same consciousness that created it. You must learn to see the world anew.”

Another quote that seems relevant here, from the book
Revelation, The Birth of a New Age by David Spangler:

"In our Western culture, we are taught the value and necessity of action,
a valuable teaching, to be sure. On the other hand, the vest action is sometimes not outward o physical; it is inward and reflective. It is the apparent non-action of providing clear, quiet space for something to emerge. When there is a need for new insights, new image to fuide us in our creativity, this is the most valuable action of all."

And surely creating a new world of joy, safety and harmony is a very high act of creativity.

OK, rant over!

Sure, I can take a look under the hood and suggest some modifications. I'm also swamped this week, so it will be an ongoing process. Thanks --

Thanks Kevin, I'm happy to help. Let me know the specs for the artwork you want, or if you like I can take a look at the templates. I've gotten a positive response from the stopthespraysf.org folks, but haven't heard back from CASS or stopthespray.org yet. Part of the reason I set up dontspray.com was that several friends reported being overwhelmed by the content on the other sites. I'd also be curious to know the visitor stats on the various sites, to find opportunities to make outreach more effective...

Hi Kevin, I'm gratified that you are receptive to my ideas, which I shared
at the CASS group previously, and they did not seem in sync with them.

I checked out the discussion forum and am cogitating over your very good questions about putting a positive spin on this issue. Will post in that thread when I
come up with something.

Thanks for writing!

More soon,
Jen
